Impact noise occurs when vibrations travel through a building’s structure and spread into adjacent areas. Common examples include footsteps, dropped objects, or the movement of furniture such as chairs.
To minimize this type of noise, builders and designers often use a floating screed system installed over an acoustic underlay combined with perimeter edge strips. This setup ensures that the screed remains separated from the structural base layer, allowing the underlay and edge strips to absorb vibrations effectively and reduce sound transmission.
Interior foam fittings are generally made from soft PU foam or hard to semi-rigid PE foam, such as LD33, LD45, LD29, PTZ29, PTZ33, XVA45, XPE, or Multilam.
Achieving the best acoustic performance starts with the correct installation of Sapronit acoustic underlays and side strips.
Our Acoustic Side Strips are designed for vertical placement along walls, ensuring effective vibration isolation. Acoustic underlays should always be laid flat and never folded up against standing walls. For optimal results, make sure there are no seams between connected layers.

In addition to a soundproofing function, screed underlays also have an insulating and thermal function. As we are committed to sustainability, it is important to extend this to our products.
That is why we invest in the production of products that are 100% recyclable. Last year we recovered 15,000 tonnes of waste and saved more than 25,000 tonnes of CO2.
With Abriso Jiffy’s screed underlays and Acoustic Side strips, you are helping to create a sustainable building in a sustainable world.
Proud to be a sustainable leader in our field, we’ve been committed to the cause from our very beginnings. From launching our world-first 100% recyclable padded bag to developing
a group-wide waste-free cradle-to-cradle’ approach, sustainability is at the heart of every decision we make.
So how exactly do we do what we do, sustainably?
Because we’re 100% committed to what we call our ‘circular economy’ and ‘cradle-to-cradle’ products – which basically means that none of our waste ends up in the incinerator or landfill. In fact, we have no waste. Everything is reused. And we do this in two main ways.
